Mrs Samra

My name is Mrs Samra, and I am the SENDCo and Assistant Headteacher at Stoke Park School. I lead the Support and Guidance team. I have been working at Stoke Park School for a number of years in various roles. I am a qualified English teacher.

As part of my role I work with students, parents and staff in school as well as the Local Authority and outside agencies to ensure we identify any additional needs students may have. The support and guidance team will then work together to ensure that these needs are met in all lessons to allow students to succeed and thrive.

Mrs Wilcox

My name is Mrs Wilcox and I am part of the support and guidance team at stoke park school. I have worked at stoke park for 12 years and my role is to support and nurture our students with autism and ADHD.

I think it is important to get to know our future students before they join stoke park in September so that they, and their parents/guardians, feel more comfortable and informed about the transition to secondary school.

Throughout their time at Stoke Park, I work closely with students and their parents to ensure that they have the best possible experience.

All staff are given in depth information about our ASC/ADHD students – their likes and dislikes, strategies that work for them and any other information to ensure their needs are met.

Ms St.John

Hello, my name is Ms. St.John and I am a Learning Mentor attached to the English Department, Year 11, and The Support and Guidance Team at Stoke Park School. I have been employed here for 13 years and support KS3/KS4 students on a one to one or small group basis. I also run small English intervention groups which focus mainly on reading for inference.

I offer after-school homework support to ensure learners meet their full potential and are given the most effective and targeted support.

It is paramount that I build positive relationships with Parents/Carers and students to ensure learners are given the best experience possible to exceed their expectations.

Mrs Walford

My name is Mrs Walford and I work with the Support and Guidance Team at Stoke Park. I have worked at

Stoke Park School for 19 years and my main role is to work with our students who have an identified Speech, Language or Communication Need. Additionally, I deliver an ASDAN qualification to identified KS4 students as part of our alternative curriculum.

It is important all our learners have the support they require to make progress so part of my role is to work with our young people supporting their learning in lessons; I also deliver interventions to small groups and work with some students 1:1 on their identified area of need.

Communication with both our students and parents is crucial so I ensure I build up a positive relationship with both to assure the best support is offered to our young learners.

I communicate regularly with our teaching staff to make certain they are all informed of the identified support strategies to use with our students with an identified Speech, Language and Communication Need to secure their needs are met.

Mrs Kaur

Hello, my name is Mrs Kaur. As an alumni of Stoke Park School, I understand the values of the school from both a student and staff perspective. I have been working in the Student Support and Guidance team for over 18 years, as well as being attached to the Humanities department. This academic year I have also provided additional support to year 9.

My role involves supporting students and making sure that they excel in their Humanities subjects. If students are unable to focus on a task, I will work alongside them and break the tasks down to ensure they are more accessible to achieve and therefore students will have a clearer understanding of what is to be done.

To support the year 9 team, I provide a homework club after school which students can attend if they are struggling with homework and finding it a challenge to complete, as well as offering support to them during mornings, break and lunch times.

Mrs Bruce

My name is Mrs Bruce and I am the EAL Coordinator. My role at Stoke Park is to welcome and nurture newly arrived students who don’t have English as a first language.

I meet with them and their families before they join Stoke Park to see what schooling they have had and to do an assessment of their English and knowledge in other curriculum areas. Once the students are attending school, I liaise with year teams and departments to make sure that they have all the skills and information necessary for their learning journey.

Once in lessons, I work with the students and teachers to ensure that the teachers are aware of our EAL students’ needs and that they have all the strategies and support in place to give them the best learning experience possible. I also provide additional Literacy intervention for students who have lower levels of English on arrival.

Ms Quarm

My name is Ms Ola Quarm and I like to be called Ms Ola. I have worked at Stoke Park School for 5 years as a Multilingual Teaching Assistant.

I speak Polish and German, but my real passion is Maths. I support students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) in KS3, across the whole academic curriculum.

I provide individual and group support for students, enabling them to overcome their language barrier and achieve their goals. My role also involves liaising with parents to help them support learning at home, providing translations and support for newly arrived students and their families.

I believe in equal opportunities for all students to make the most of their lives and talents, no matter their background, belief or language.
