Message from the Head Teacher

Mrs M HarrisonDear Parents,

I am delighted to welcome you to our website.

There has been much to celebrate so far this year. Many of our students have excelled not only in the results they have achieved in examinations, but in many other ways that cannot be measured by government statistics. This includes memorable theme days, extra-curricular visits, high quality drama and music productions as well as a range of sporting successes both at city and county level. All of these events have captured the talents of many of our students.

2011 saw a significant improvement in results at A level. The percentage of students achieving A* to E grades rose from 92.% in 2010, to nearly 99% in 2011 with a high proportion obtaining A and B grades. As a result I am delighted to report that all our students who applied to university in 2011, were successfully placed, most gaining admission to either their first or second choice.

Year 11 entered for GCSE Maths in November 2011 received grades that highlight a tremendous upward shift in achievement. There was a significant increase in the number of students achieving A* - C grades when compared with the same period last year. Congratulations to our students. I know they will all continue to work hard to ensure that they achieve the best possible results by the end of Year 11.

We remain focused on our core purpose of continually seeking to improve the quality of the education we provide. But vision and imagination are nothing without persistence. This means persistence on the part of our staff to relentlessly pursue aspirational targets for every child. Success also requires persistence on the part of our students and their families. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the support and hard work of our parents that has significantly contributed to our success.
