Dear Parents and Carers
The second half term is upon us. I hope you have received the October newsletter and read of our good start to the year.
One of our school priorities is to equip children for lifelong learning. Your sons and daughters will increasingly be assessed by formal examinations taken at the end of a course (two years) with no continual assessment or coursework as part of their final grade. To help preparation and to provide children with the necessary skills we have continued our assessment weeks for all year groups this academic year. Year 9 have started their revision this week for assessments in the week 24th to 28th November. We again ask parents and carers to ensure that revision is undertaken at home and is meaningful and purposeful; reading an old exercise book in front of the TV does not count. Results from assessments will be shared with you as part of our reporting process.
As you know all children need to remain in education or formal training until they are 18. Our expectation is that more and more of each Yr11 will stay on here for years 12 and 13. Our next Open Evening for the Sixth Form is Thursday 11th December and full details will be circulated shortly. The main audience is current Yr11 parents and carers but all are welcome.
Thank you for your continued support for the school and your sons and daughters progress. As ever if there is anything that you are concerned about please get in touch with us so that we can work together to support learning.
